Mallorca is the largest island of the Balearic archipelago. It can be considered one of Europe’s most popular summer destinations. The best time to visit this island is April/May or September/October. The weather on the island is ideal at this time of the year, so you can avoid the rush of tourists and crowded beaches.
You’ll find adventure of every kind here, from picturesque mountain villages to nightclubs. The island is especially famous for its beautiful coastline, limestone mountains, charming Spanish architecture and beautiful beaches. And today we will talk more about beaches.
Mallorca has a total of 262 beaches covering a total length of 50 kilometres. There are three types of beaches to choose from – deserted desert beaches, large family beaches, or hidden rocky coves.
Which beaches are worth visiting? Here are our top 8 beaches you shouldn’t miss during your visit to Mallorca.
Cala Pí
One of the most famous beaches in Mallorca is Cala Pí. It is a small rocky cove with clear water. You will also enjoy the view of the sailboats or catamarans and the best photo spot of the whole island! However, you won’t want to be the only one taking photos on the famous stone, so expect queues to form during the day.
However, if you arrive in the morning before 9, you will be almost alone there. Although the light for the photo won’t be ideal, as the stone is in shadow at this time, you can still get a nice photo there. The advantage of arriving early in the morning is that you won’t have to compete for a parking space. The beach is visited by hundreds of tourists every day and the parking lot is quite small.
Cala Beltrán
If you are already on Cala Pí, it would be a sin not to visit the hidden beach of Cala Beltrán. Located just 10 minutes walk from Cala Pí.
The trail starts on the right side of the beach behind the fisherman’s house. The beginning of the route may seem difficult and dangerous, but it is not. You can easily manage the route without any special footwear. After a very short hike, you will reach the upper plain where you can enjoy a panoramic view of Cala Pí. After about ten minutes of walking you are at the place.
Cala Beltrán is a hidden beach that is not so popular yet. Entering the water is a bit more complicated, so we recommend bringing suitable water shoes. The water is crystal clear and dozens of fish swim there. If you like lesser-known places and enjoy privacy, you’ll definitely like Cala Beltrán.
Es Trenc
A completely different type of beach than the ones mentioned above is Es Trenc. It is located on the south coast of Mallorca. The beach is about 10 km long, with white sand and turquoise water.
However, what you hardly read about anywhere and in our opinion you should be prepared for is the fact that it is largely a nude beach. We weren’t prepared for that 😀 We preferred to enjoy our time at Es Trenc in our swimsuits and we didn’t mind it at all. Although we preferred not to look around, because we would have seen what we didn’t want to see.
If you come to the beach from the right – west side and park your car here, don’t be discouraged by the dirty beach and seaweed at the very beginning. After a few minutes of walking you will reach paradise.
Sa Calobra
Sa Calobra is a small village on the north-west coast of the island, which, in addition to its many shops, restaurants and beautiful promenade, also offers a beautiful beach. The beach is rocky and small, but the water is clean and its location in a cove between two cliffs makes it unique.
To get to it, you have to go through a path in the cave. We recommend arriving early in the morning to catch the best spot. The easiest way to get to this beach is by boat through various tours and day trips. Another option is a car. However, be prepared for very narrow roads and serpentines, which nevertheless offer spectacular views.
The Coll Dels Reis or the Torrent de Pareis are definitely worth a mention, and not to be missed on the way! However, this is a very popular cycling route and therefore you need to ride very carefully.

Cala Agulla
Among the most beautiful beaches in Mallorca is definitely Cala Agulla, located on the east coast of the island. The beach is big enough to give you privacy even during high season.
The water is beautifully clear and you can also enjoy a bit rougher sea, which is ideal for lovers of waves and adrenaline. There are several beach bars on the beach where you can have a drink and a bite to eat. On the right side there is a pier, which is an ideal place for a walk during sunset when it is not so warm outside.
Cala Mesquida
Cala Mesquida is just a 10-minute drive from the passing beach of Cala Agulla, so it’s the perfect opportunity to explore both beaches in one day. It is a sandy beach with turquoise water, but it has great surfing conditions.
There are huge sand dunes on the beach. For the more adventurous and active, there’s the option to take a walk along the pier to the next beach, Cala Torta. This coastal walk will take you about 2 hours as it is almost 5 km long. Sun umbrellas and sun loungers can also be rented on the beach. The beach area is also home to protected bird species.
Playa de Muro
Playa de Muro is the longest sandy beach in Mallorca, located in the town of Muro on the north-eastern part of the island, about 50 km from the capital Palma de Mallorca. This beach is particularly characterised by the long pier that can be found there. We recommend arriving before sunset.
There are also plenty of hotels, restaurants and shops around the beach, making it the perfect place to spend the day. We’d even dare to say that living in the Playa de Muro area itself doesn’t have to be a bad thing.
Cala sa Nau
Near Cala d’Or, about 15 km from Santanyi, is the hidden beach of Cala Sa Nau. It is a very small beach that has its own charm. It is located between two reefs and has ideal conditions for snorkeling.
For the adventurous, there is also the option of cliff jumping. There is a beach bar where you can have a drink or a quick lunch. If you are in the area, we definitely recommend a visit.
Mallorca is full of other wonderful places that are definitely worth a visit! It is not for nothing that it is one of the most popular holiday destinations not only in Spain, but in the whole of Europe. So, are you packed already?
