Be careful how you name your blog – it could affect your future!

2troubletravelers. Now that I look at it, it sounds like a pretty cool blog name. What is the first thing that comes to your mind? That it’s probably going to be about some two people who probably quite like to travel and with whom it’s probably not exactly boring, since they have to deal with some travel troubles all the time. Yes exactly, that’s us. Even though I wrote it, I have to note that I probably couldn’t have said it any better

Domi and Thomas, a young couple who decided to share their passion for travel with the outside world. Since this is our very first article to you, our dear readers, it would probably be appropriate to set the record straight as to how it all began.

It may sound like a cliché, but yes, as we are all overwhelmed in the modern age full of digital things, we also got to know each other through social media. So there was no romantic story from the film preceding it. I (Domi) crossing the crosswalk when he (Thomas) flashes in front of me, gets out of the car and checks if I’m okay. That’s where the sparkle should come in, love at first sight, destiny, invitations for coffee, sleepless nights by the night sky, etc etc etc. Yes, that’s kind of how I imagined my first meeting with the chosen one as a naive little girl.

That’s not to say that Thomas isn’t one, of course, and I’ll experience him with someone else, but understand. Times are hard, there are few normal people in the world. The chances of two normal people meeting at the same time in the same place is really lousy.

So let’s get to the point. Yes, he wrote to me via social media and our conversation started to pick up right when the subject of travel came up. I’m not going to go into detail here and break down our beautiful, romance-filled date, because this isn’t about that, but I needed to mention it somehow.

Well, we have to admit to you, it’s been a long run. A few days before our first trip, we said let’s go for it. That we want to an instagram account, that we want to have a blog, that we want to try this famous influencer life. But no, I’m kidding, we’re regular people who just love having fun and trying new things.

On a nice spring evening we took a blanket, a few bottles of alcohol, paper and a pen. Okay so maybe there was a little too much alcohol. We went to a quiet spot overlooking the water, put on our favorite playlist on Spotify and went for it.

I was studying marketing and management, so I finally had the opportunity to put my super theory into practice. So we brainstormed with the mind map. Ooo god how professional does that sound. With the passage of time and the advanced promile in our blood, all sorts of thought processes began to manifest themselves. Let me tell you, we haven’t had such a good time in a long time (not because we were losers, but it was really fun).

There were really a lot of ideas, we were combining, in my opinion, before that unconnected words. And even though it looked like nothing was going to happen and our influencer career was going to end sooner than it started, we finally came up with something.

The next day, when we looked at everything we had come up with, we were amazed at how much creativity we were blessed with. And we picked a favourite. 2troubletravelers.

“Hmmm, sounds so intriguing. Do you think we can use it even if we plan to just travel like normal people without any troubles?”

These were some of our reactions. So much naivety. In hindsight, I don’t understand how we could have thought we would make it through any trip or vacation without a problem. Or has a higher power intervened and after creating an instagram account, fate has prepared a new adventure for us?

Chasing a thief on a bicycle in Barcelona, a broken cell phone in Rome, an erupting volcano in Manila, a closed airport, postponed flights, a missing memory stick, a hospital stay, a crash, a towed motorbike, too much tide in the harbour, a lost gopro in the sea, a towed car in Lisbon, a stolen camera in Tenerife. Should I continue?

I really don’t want to believe that if we put the name 2richtravelers we would win the lottery, but this doesn’t feel like a coincidence Anyway, we’re still here, we’re in suspense with a question mark about what’s to come, and we’re looking forward to it immensely!

However, we have to admit that our troubles have almost always had a happy ending so far, so we take it as a spice up to our holidays, which we will remember for a long time to come. But still, sometimes it makes us sleepless and we think about it. Was it just a coincidence, was it meant to be, or did we change our travel destiny??
