A large number of tourist hikes, hundreds of great restaurants and what about a place where to stay? It&#8217;s really hard to plan the best itinerary. Of course, it also depends on your physical condition and how demanding hiking is, whether you are travelling alone or with children and how many days you are going to the Tatras.</p>
<p>However, we bring you a <strong>four-day itinerary</strong> that includes a mix of easy and moderate hiking, along with tips on our favourite gastro establishments and hotels.</p>
</div></div><div class="wpb_text_column us_custom_54e7f678"><div class="wpb_wrapper"><h2>Where to stay in High Tatras</h2>
<p>The choice of a place where to stay also depends on whether you are travelling to the Tatras by car or by train, or on how you want to get around. Parking is usually included in the price of your accommodation, but bear in mind that if you want to start hiking from a different location than your hotel, you can pay up to ten euros for parking for the whole day. We moved around the Tatras exclusively by train, which saved us a lot of money. They are very frequent and can take you almost everywhere. You will pay about 1-2€ per ticket.</p>
<p>However, the choice of hotel should also depend largely on what will be your starting point for hiking. As a rule, most hiking trails start in <strong>Tatranská Lomnica</strong>, <strong>Stary Smokovec</strong> or <strong>Štrbské Pleso</strong>. In these locations you will find a large offer of hotels, resorts and apartments in different price categories. However, if you have a car available, then <strong>Dolný Smokovec, Stará Lesná or</strong> <strong>Veľká Lomnica</strong> can be a great alternative for you.</p>
</div></div><div class="wpb_text_column us_custom_54e7f678"><div class="wpb_wrapper"><h3><a href="https://booking.tp.st/QQzVoXrN" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Apartments Tatry</strong></a></h3>
<p>During our stay in the Tatras we spent 2 nights in Stary Smokovec in <a href="https://booking.tp.st/QQzVoXrN" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Apartments Tatry</strong></a>. This is an apartment located directly in the Hrebienok Rezort complex, but it is rented by a private person.</p>
<p>The apartment is beautifully furnished, also includes a terrace with a beautiful view and offers everything you will need during your stay. It also includes a fully equipped kitchen, so if you don&#8217;t want to eat out all day, you can prepare some tasty breakfast or dinner here. Located just a 5-minute walk from the cable car to Hrebienok, the Coop Jednota and many bars and restaurants are also nearby.</p>

<p>For the next nights we moved to Tatranská Lomnica to the hotel <a href="https://booking.tp.st/wbSDCC44" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Grand Hotel Praha</strong></a>. I&#8217;m sure you all immediately think of exorbitant luxury, exorbitant prices and something you can&#8217;t afford. WRONG. The Grand Hotel Prague offers so many great benefits to its visitors that when you add it up at the end of the day, you&#8217;ll find that it&#8217;s not as expensive and disadvantageous as it may seem at first glance.</p>
</div></div><div class="w-image us_custom_54e7f678 align_none"><div class="w-image-h"><img decoding="async" width="819" height="1024" src="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Grandhotel_praha-819x1024.jpg" class="attachment-large size-large" alt="" srcset="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Grandhotel_praha-819x1024.jpg 819w, https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Grandhotel_praha-240x300.jpg 240w, https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Grandhotel_praha.jpg 1080w" sizes="(max-width: 819px) 100vw, 819px" /></div></div><div class="w-image us_custom_54e7f678 align_none meta_simple"><div class="w-image-h"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="819" height="1024" src="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Grand_hotel_praha-819x1024.jpg" class="attachment-large size-large" alt="" srcset="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Grand_hotel_praha-819x1024.jpg 819w, https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Grand_hotel_praha-240x300.jpg 240w, https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Grand_hotel_praha.jpg 1080w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 819px) 100vw, 819px" /></div><div class="w-image-meta"><div class="w-image-title">Grand Hotel Praha Suite Classic.</div></div></div><div class="wpb_text_column us_custom_50cc7d67"><div class="wpb_wrapper"><p>At the Grand Hotel Prague you will enjoy great service, beautiful rooms and the price of your stay also includes a wonderful buffet-style breakfast. For example, you can also choose from gluten-free and lactose-free alternatives. But that&#8217;s still not all.</p>
<h4>Wellness</h4>
<p>All visitors also have access to unlimited wellness facilities. In the wellness centre there is an indoor swimming pool, two whirlpools (one inside the other outside), saunas and also the only year-round outdoor pool with a beautiful view of the Tatras. It&#8217;s amazing, isn&#8217;t it? When you consider, for example, that in some places you pay tens of euros per person for a spa and here you can enjoy it without limit, it&#8217;s a really great benefit. But we&#8217;re not done yet.</p>
</div></div><div class="w-image us_custom_54e7f678 align_none meta_simple"><div class="w-image-h"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="768" height="1024" src="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Grand_hotel_praha_wellness-768x1024.jpg" class="attachment-large size-large" alt="" srcset="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Grand_hotel_praha_wellness-768x1024.jpg 768w, https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Grand_hotel_praha_wellness-225x300.jpg 225w, https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Grand_hotel_praha_wellness.jpg 1013w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px" /></div><div class="w-image-meta"><div class="w-image-title">The only year-round heated outdoor swimming pool in the High Tatras.</div></div></div><div class="wpb_text_column us_custom_50cc7d67"><div class="wpb_wrapper"><h4>Water parks</h4>
<p>If you decide to stay in Grand Hotel Praha (or any other hotel from the TMR network) you will also get entry to Tatralandia or Aquapark Bešeňová absolutely FREE. It may seem like one advantage after another, but for those who are still unconvinced, here is the last, but in our opinion, the best advantage of all.</p>
<h4><a href="https://www.gopass.travel/EN" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Gopass/Skipass</a></h4>
<p>GOPASS or SKIPASS for cable cars. Yes, you hear right. If you decide to stay in such a Grand Hotel Praha, you will get a GOPASS, which you can use for example on the cable cars from Tatranská Lomnica to Skalnaté pleso (or up to Lomnické sedlo), on the cog-railway to Hrebienok, or to Predné Solisko. When you add it all up, it will certainly be clear to you that staying in one of the hotels from the Tatry Mountains Resorts network is really worth it! </p>
</div></div><div class="w-image us_custom_54e7f678 align_none meta_simple"><div class="w-image-h"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="768" height="1024" src="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/gopass-768x1024.jpg" class="attachment-large size-large" alt="" srcset="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/gopass-768x1024.jpg 768w, https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/gopass-225x300.jpg 225w, https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/gopass-scaled.jpg 1920w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px" /></div><div class="w-image-meta"><div class="w-image-title">If you stay in TMR hotels, Gopass cards are included in the price of your stay.</div></div></div><div class="wpb_text_column us_custom_50cc7d67"><div class="wpb_wrapper"><h2>Hiking from Tatranská Lomnica</h2>
<p>Enough about accommodation, let&#8217;s go straight to the places you can go. The High Tatras offer many hiking trails, each of which is unique in its own way. We decided for the hike:</p>
<h4><strong>Tatranská Lomnica &#8211; Skalnaté pleso &#8211; Veľká Svišt&#8217;ovka &#8211; Zelené Pleso &#8211; Tatranská Lomnica</strong></h4>
<p>As we were waiting for a quite difficult and long route, we decided to skip the first, more boring route from Tatranská Lomnica to Skalnaté Pleso and save our strength. We used the GOPASS that we got at the Grand Hotel Praha and took the cable car to Skalnate pleso, which saved us about 2-2.5 hours of time.</p>
</div></div><div class="w-image us_custom_54e7f678 align_none meta_simple"><div class="w-image-h"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="683" height="1024" src="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Vysoke_tatry_liska-683x1024.jpg" class="attachment-large size-large" alt="" srcset="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Vysoke_tatry_liska-683x1024.jpg 683w, https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Vysoke_tatry_liska-200x300.jpg 200w, https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Vysoke_tatry_liska.jpg 900w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px" /></div><div class="w-image-meta"><div class="w-image-title">If you are lucky like us, you can see a fox on Skalnaté Pleso.</div></div></div><div class="wpb_text_column us_custom_50cc7d67"><div class="wpb_wrapper"><p>From there we took the red trail towards Veľká Svišt&#8217;ovka. The weather was really good, the sun was shining, the sky was clear and it wasn&#8217;t too hot. It took us about 65 minutes to get to Veľká Svišt&#8217;ovka. The route was moderately difficult, almost all the time we were going slightly uphill, but it was nothing terrible.</p>
</div></div><div class="w-image us_custom_54e7f678 align_none meta_simple"><div class="w-image-h"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="819" src="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Velka_svistovka-2-1024x819.jpg" class="attachment-large size-large" alt="" srcset="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Velka_svistovka-2-1024x819.jpg 1024w, https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Velka_svistovka-2-300x240.jpg 300w, https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Velka_svistovka-2.jpg 1688w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></div><div class="w-image-meta"><div class="w-image-title">From Veľká Svištovka you can see Zelené pleso in the valley.</div></div></div><div class="wpb_text_column us_custom_50cc7d67"><div class="wpb_wrapper"><p>For those who do not want to continue further, there is still the option to return back along the identical route to Skalnate pleso, which will take you less than 1 hour. We enjoyed a beautiful view from Veľká Svišt&#8217;ovka, from which we could already see our next destination &#8211; Zelené pleso. From Veľká Svišt&#8217;ovka the road continued only downwards. Most of the route was easy, the terrain was stable, but there was a short stretch that went over iron chains.</p>
</div></div><div class="w-image us_custom_54e7f678 align_none meta_simple"><div class="w-image-h"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="819" height="1024" src="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Kozi_stit-819x1024.jpg" class="attachment-large size-large" alt="" srcset="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Kozi_stit-819x1024.jpg 819w, https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Kozi_stit-240x300.jpg 240w, https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Kozi_stit.jpg 1080w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 819px) 100vw, 819px" /></div><div class="w-image-meta"><div class="w-image-title">Above Zelený Pleso there is Kozí Štít.</div></div></div><div class="w-image us_custom_54e7f678 align_none meta_simple"><div class="w-image-h"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="819" height="1024" src="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Chata_zelene_pleso-819x1024.jpg" class="attachment-large size-large" alt="" srcset="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Chata_zelene_pleso-819x1024.jpg 819w, https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Chata_zelene_pleso-240x300.jpg 240w, https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Chata_zelene_pleso.jpg 1080w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 819px) 100vw, 819px" /></div><div class="w-image-meta"><div class="w-image-title">The valley of Zelené Pleso is one of the most beautiful in the High Tatras at all.</div></div></div><div class="wpb_text_column us_custom_50cc7d67"><div class="wpb_wrapper"><p>After about 80 minutes we finally reached the finish line. But not the full destination of the whole route, as we still had a way back. Cottage near Zelené pleso is our most popular alpine cottage in the High Tatras. It has a really incredible environment around it! Beautiful reflection of the surrounding mountains in the clear green water of the green lake.</p>
<p>It must be admitted that we were quite lucky, because we arrived at the hut just after 13:00, when there were not so many people there and the sun started to shine on Zelené pleso again. After a reward of bean soup, poldeck and beer, we rested for about an hour and regained our strength for the trip back. When we looked at the orientation board, we got chills! Apparently it is 3:10 to Tatranská Lomnica. But that was not true at all. We had a very average pace at the beginning, then we picked up the pace a bit and the whole route down to the hotel took us 2:20 hours. After a full day of hiking, we enjoyed the spa and great food.</p>
</div></div><div class="w-message us_custom_54e7f678 color_blue"><div class="w-message-body"><p>Note. You can also take the easier route to Zelené Pleso, which is also suitable for families with children. The beginning of the whole hiking is in Tatranská Lomnica, from Tatranské Matliare or from Kežmarská Biela Voda. The whole route up will take you roughly 2-2.5 hours, but it is certainly easier than the one we took from Skalnaté pleso via Veľká Svišt&#8217;ovka.</p>
</div></div><div class="w-image us_custom_54e7f678 align_none meta_simple"><div class="w-image-h"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="819" height="1024" src="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Zelene_pleso_chata-819x1024.jpg" class="attachment-large size-large" alt="" srcset="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Zelene_pleso_chata-819x1024.jpg 819w, https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Zelene_pleso_chata-240x300.jpg 240w, https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Zelene_pleso_chata.jpg 1080w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 819px) 100vw, 819px" /></div><div class="w-image-meta"><div class="w-image-title">This is the view you will get if you go to the cottage at the Zelené Pleso from Tatranská Lomnica, for example.</div></div></div><div class="wpb_text_column us_custom_50cc7d67"><div class="wpb_wrapper"><h4>Tatranská Lomnica &#8211; Skalnaté Pleso &#8211; Lomnické Sedlo (Lomnický Štít)</h4>
<p>Another great way to enjoy a beautiful day in Tatranská Lomnica is to visit Lomnické Sedlo or even Lomnický Štít. Those who like hiking can take the route under the cable car from Tatranská Lomnica to Skalnate pleso, which takes about 2-2.5 hours. From there you can take a chairlift, which runs from 9:00am to 4:30pm and costs 11 €. Again, if you are staying in one of the TMR hotels, you can take the cable car from Tatranská Lomnica to Lomnické Sedlo for free.</p>
</div></div><div class="w-image us_custom_54e7f678 align_none meta_simple"><div class="w-image-h"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="819" height="1024" src="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Lomnicky_stit_vysoke_tatry-819x1024.jpg" class="attachment-large size-large" alt="" srcset="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Lomnicky_stit_vysoke_tatry-819x1024.jpg 819w, https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Lomnicky_stit_vysoke_tatry-240x300.jpg 240w, https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Lomnicky_stit_vysoke_tatry.jpg 1080w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 819px) 100vw, 819px" /></div><div class="w-image-meta"><div class="w-image-title">From the Lomnický Sedlo you have a beautiful view of the Lomnický Štít.</div></div></div><div class="w-image us_custom_54e7f678 align_none meta_simple"><div class="w-image-h"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="819" height="1024" src="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Lanovka_lomnicky_stit-819x1024.jpg" class="attachment-large size-large" alt="" srcset="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Lanovka_lomnicky_stit-819x1024.jpg 819w, https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Lanovka_lomnicky_stit-240x300.jpg 240w, https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Lanovka_lomnicky_stit.jpg 1080w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 819px) 100vw, 819px" /></div><div class="w-image-meta"><div class="w-image-title">This cableway goes to Lomnický Štít.</div></div></div><div class="wpb_text_column"><div class="wpb_wrapper"><p>An alternative is also an experience on Lomnický Štít, which you can take a cable car directly from Skalnaté pleso. Tickets cost <strong>€59</strong> and you need to book <strong>in advance</strong> as the number of seats is limited. This is the only cable car that is not included in the price of your stay in the TMR hotel network. We managed to snag some incredibly beautiful weather and since we booked the very first morning lift at 9:00am up we had plenty of room to enjoy it to the fullest.</p>

<p>As we have already mentioned, we spent our first nights in the High Tatras in Starý Smokovec. The reason was also to have walking access to the cable car to Hrebienok, where most of the tourist hikes start. Our favourite routes from Hrebienok are:</p>
<ul>
<li>Hrebienok &#8211; Térry&#8217;s Chalet</li>
<li>Hrebienok &#8211; Skalnate pleso</li>
<li>Hrebienok &#8211; Sliezsky Dom</li>
<li>Hrebienok &#8211; Zbojnícka chata</li>
</ul>
<p>And it is about the last two that we will talk a little more today.</p>
</div></div><div class="wpb_text_column"><div class="wpb_wrapper"><h3>Hrebienok &#8211; Sliezsky Dom</h3>
<p>We chose the route from Hrebienok to Sliezsky Dom mainly because it is an easy hike with a total duration of 4 hours. The elevation reaches only 385 m and the route offers very nice views all the time. As it was our first hiking trip in the Tatras after a long time, we wanted something simpler and more relaxing.</p>
</div></div><div class="w-image us_custom_54e7f678 align_none meta_simple"><div class="w-image-h"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="819" height="1024" src="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Gerlachovsky_stit_vysoke_tatry-819x1024.jpg" class="attachment-large size-large" alt="" srcset="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Gerlachovsky_stit_vysoke_tatry-819x1024.jpg 819w, https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Gerlachovsky_stit_vysoke_tatry-240x300.jpg 240w, https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Gerlachovsky_stit_vysoke_tatry.jpg 1080w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 819px) 100vw, 819px" /></div><div class="w-image-meta"><div class="w-image-title">On the way to Sliezsky Dom you will have a beautiful view of Gerlachovský Štít.</div></div></div><div class="wpb_text_column"><div class="wpb_wrapper"><p>The destination is also beautiful. At the Silesian House you will enjoy great refreshments and a view of Velicek pleso. You can easily spend several hours here. Follow the same route back to Hrebienok, where you will take a cog-railway down. An alternative is of course also to make the ascent and climb from Hrebienok outside the tubing hut, which will take you about 30-40 minutes. Again, if you are staying in the TMR hotel network, you have a free ticket to the Hrebienok tubing hill. The price is 16€ return ticket for an adult and 10€ for a child.</p>

<p>The route from Hrebienok to Zbojnicka chata is considered to be a moderately difficult hiking with an elevation of about 730 m. The beginning of the route is very pleasant and everyone can handle it. The climb starts after the second half of the route, but we guarantee you that the views will definitely be worth it. At Zbojnícká chata you will enjoy great food and beautiful views. In total, this hike will take you 5:30 hours.</p>
</div></div><div class="wpb_text_column us_custom_d2199d32"><div class="wpb_wrapper"><h2>Gastronomy</h2>
<p>During our stay in the High Tatras we also tried several gastro establishments, which we would like to recommend to you. If you are currently in Stary Smokovec, it is definitely worth mentioning <strong>Stodola Smokovec.</strong> We tasted there the best bryndzové halušky and homemade soup.</p>
</div></div><div class="w-image us_custom_54e7f678 align_none meta_simple"><div class="w-image-h"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="768" height="1024" src="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Bryndzove_halusky-768x1024.jpg" class="attachment-large size-large" alt="" srcset="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Bryndzove_halusky-768x1024.jpg 768w, https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Bryndzove_halusky-225x300.jpg 225w, https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Bryndzove_halusky.jpg 1013w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px" /></div><div class="w-image-meta"><div class="w-image-title">Traditional Slovak dish bryndzove halušky.</div></div></div><div class="wpb_text_column us_custom_d2199d32"><div class="wpb_wrapper"><p>Right next to the Hrebienok resort there is also a restaurant <strong>called SLOWENSKA</strong>, where we had dinner. We had a burger, wings and beer. The atmosphere was great! <strong>Burger Váňa</strong> is also worth mentioning. It&#8217;s a small stand along the main road, and the smell of burgers is so strong that it makes you swoon in an instant.</p>
<p>If you want to enjoy other than traditional cuisine, you can try the <strong>UMAMI</strong> restaurant, which serves sushi and other Asian specialties. If you are looking for a place to have breakfast in the morning, you can stop by <strong>MONDIEU</strong> or <strong>Pekárova žena</strong> for pastries or coffee.</p>

It can be considered one of Europe&#8217;s most popular summer destinations. The best time to visit this island is <strong>April/May</strong> or <strong>September/October</strong>. The weather on the island is ideal at this time of the year, so you can avoid the rush of tourists and crowded beaches.</p>
<p>You&#8217;ll find adventure of every kind here, from picturesque mountain villages to nightclubs. The island is especially famous for its beautiful coastline, limestone mountains, charming Spanish architecture and beautiful beaches. And today we will talk more about beaches.</p>
<p>Mallorca has a total of 262 beaches covering a total length of 50 kilometres. There are three types of beaches to choose from &#8211; deserted desert beaches, large family beaches, or hidden rocky coves.</p>
<p>Which beaches are worth visiting? Here are our top 8 beaches you shouldn&#8217;t miss during your visit to Mallorca.</p>
</div></div><div class="wpb_text_column us_custom_50cc7d67"><div class="wpb_wrapper"><h2>Cala Pí</h2>
<p>One of the most famous beaches in <strong>Mallorca is Cala Pí</strong>. It is a small rocky cove with clear water. You will also enjoy the view of the sailboats or catamarans and the best photo spot of the whole island! However, you won&#8217;t want to be the only one taking photos on the famous stone, so expect queues to form during the day.</p>
<p>However, if you arrive in the morning before 9, you will be almost alone there. Although the light for the photo won&#8217;t be ideal, as the stone is in shadow at this time, you can still get a nice photo there. The advantage of arriving early in the morning is that you won&#8217;t have to compete for a parking space. The beach is visited by hundreds of tourists every day and the parking lot is quite small.</p>
</div></div><div class="w-image us_custom_54e7f678 align_none meta_simple"><div class="w-image-h"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="819" height="1024" src="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Cala_Pi_instaspot_mallorca-819x1024.png" class="attachment-large size-large" alt="" srcset="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Cala_Pi_instaspot_mallorca-819x1024.png 819w, https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Cala_Pi_instaspot_mallorca-240x300.png 240w, https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Cala_Pi_instaspot_mallorca.png 1080w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 819px) 100vw, 819px" /></div><div class="w-image-meta"><div class="w-image-title">Famous photo spot above Cala Pi beach.</div></div></div><div class="w-image us_custom_54e7f678 align_none meta_simple"><div class="w-image-h"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="768" src="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Cala_pi_mallorca_spain-1024x768.jpg" class="attachment-large size-large" alt="" srcset="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Cala_pi_mallorca_spain-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Cala_pi_mallorca_spain-300x225.jpg 300w, https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Cala_pi_mallorca_spain.jpg 1920w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></div><div class="w-image-meta"><div class="w-image-title">Cala Pi is located in a beautiful bay where many boats are moored.</div></div></div><div class="wpb_text_column"><div class="wpb_wrapper"><h2>Cala Beltrán</h2>
<p>If you are already on Cala Pí, it would be a sin not to visit the hidden beach <strong>of Cala Beltrán</strong>. Located just 10 minutes walk from Cala Pí.</p>
<p>The trail starts on the right side of the beach behind the fisherman&#8217;s house. The beginning of the route may seem difficult and dangerous, but it is not. You can easily manage the route without any special footwear. After a very short hike, you will reach the upper plain where you can enjoy a panoramic view of Cala Pí. After about ten minutes of walking you are at the place.</p>
<p>Cala Beltrán is a hidden beach that is not so popular yet. Entering the water is a bit more complicated, so we recommend bringing suitable water shoes. The water is crystal clear and dozens of fish swim there. If you like lesser-known places and enjoy privacy, you&#8217;ll definitely like Cala Beltrán.</p>
</div></div><div class="w-image us_custom_54e7f678 align_none meta_simple"><div class="w-image-h"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Cala_beltran_Mallorca-1024x576.jpg" class="attachment-large size-large" alt="" srcset="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Cala_beltran_Mallorca-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Cala_beltran_Mallorca-300x169.jpg 300w, https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Cala_beltran_Mallorca.jpg 1920w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></div><div class="w-image-meta"><div class="w-image-title">Most tourists don't know about this beach, but we definitely recommend it.</div></div></div><div class="wpb_text_column us_custom_d2199d32"><div class="wpb_wrapper"><h2>Es Trenc</h2>
<p>A completely different type of beach than the ones mentioned above is <strong>Es Trenc</strong>. It is located on the south coast of Mallorca. The beach is about 10 km long, with white sand and turquoise water.</p>
<p>However, what you hardly read about anywhere and in our opinion you should be prepared for is the fact that it is largely a <strong>nude beach</strong>. We weren&#8217;t prepared for that <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f600.png" alt="😀" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> We preferred to enjoy our time at Es Trenc in our swimsuits and we didn&#8217;t mind it at all. Although we preferred not to look around, because we would have seen what we didn&#8217;t want to see.</p>
<p>If you come to the beach from the right &#8211; west side and park your car here, don&#8217;t be discouraged by the dirty beach and seaweed at the very beginning. After a few minutes of walking you will reach paradise.</p>
</div></div><div class="w-image us_custom_54e7f678 align_none meta_simple"><div class="w-image-h"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Mallorca_es_trenc-1024x576.jpg" class="attachment-large size-large" alt="" srcset="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Mallorca_es_trenc-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Mallorca_es_trenc-300x169.jpg 300w, https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Mallorca_es_trenc.jpg 1920w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></div><div class="w-image-meta"><div class="w-image-title">The beach is really long, so even during the high season you will have plenty of space there.</div></div></div><div class="wpb_text_column us_custom_d2199d32"><div class="wpb_wrapper"><h2>Sa Calobra</h2>
<p><strong>Sa Calobra</strong> is a small village on the north-west coast of the island, which, in addition to its many shops, restaurants and beautiful promenade, also offers a <strong>beautiful beach</strong>. The beach is rocky and small, but the water is clean and its location in a cove between two cliffs makes it unique.</p>
<p>To get to it, you have to <strong>go through a path in the cave</strong>. We recommend arriving early in the morning to catch the best spot. The easiest way to get to this beach is by boat through various tours and day trips. Another option is a car. However, be prepared for very narrow roads and serpentines, which nevertheless offer spectacular views.</p>
<p>The <strong>Coll Dels Reis or the Torrent de Pareis</strong> are definitely worth a mention, and not to be missed on the way! However, this is a very popular cycling route and therefore you need to ride very carefully.</p>

<p>Among the most beautiful beaches in Mallorca is definitely <strong>Cala Agulla</strong>, located on the east coast of the island. The beach is big enough to give you privacy even during high season.</p>
<p>The water is beautifully clear and you can also enjoy a bit <strong>rougher sea</strong>, which is ideal for <strong>lovers of waves and adrenaline</strong>. There are several beach bars on the beach where you can have a drink and a bite to eat. On the right side there is a pier, which is an ideal place for a walk during sunset when it is not so warm outside.</p>

<p>Cala Mesquida is just a <strong>10-minute drive</strong> from the passing beach of Cala Agulla, so it&#8217;s the perfect opportunity to <strong>explore both beaches in one day</strong>. It is a sandy beach with turquoise water, but it has great surfing conditions.</p>
<p>There are <strong>huge sand dunes</strong> on the beach. For the more adventurous and active, there&#8217;s the option to take a walk along the pier to the next beach<strong>, Cala Torta</strong>. This coastal walk will take you about 2 hours as it is almost 5 km long. <strong>Sun umbrellas and sun loungers</strong> can also be rented on the beach. The beach area is also home to protected bird species.</p>

<p>Playa de Muro is <strong>the longest sandy beach</strong> in Mallorca, located in the town of Muro on the north-eastern part of the island, about 50 km from the capital Palma de Mallorca. This beach is particularly characterised by the long pier that can be found there. We recommend arriving before sunset.</p>
<p>There are also plenty of <strong>hotels, restaurants and shops</strong> around the beach, making it the perfect place to spend the day. We&#8217;d even dare to say that living in the Playa de Muro area itself doesn&#8217;t have to be a bad thing.</p>

<p>Near Cala d&#8217;Or, about 15 km from Santanyi, is the <strong>hidden beach of Cala Sa Nau</strong>. It is a very small beach that has its own charm. It is located between two reefs and has ideal conditions for snorkeling.</p>
<p>For the adventurous, there is also the option of cliff jumping. There is a <strong>beach bar</strong> where you can have a drink or a quick lunch. If you are in the area, we definitely recommend a visit.</p>

Places from which you can observe 50 shades of green, enjoy natural hot springs, black sand beaches and many traditions all in one place. São Miguel, the largest and most visited island in the Azores, offers all this and much more to its visitors.</p>
</div></div><div class="wpb_text_column"><div class="wpb_wrapper"><h2 class="elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default">Interesting facts about the Azores</h2>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">The Azores are a Portuguese archipelago surrounded by the North Atlantic Ocean. They were discovered by Portuguese sailors in 1427. They are located approximately 1,500 km from the capital of Portugal &#8211; Lisbon. A total of 9 Azores islands of volcanic origin make up the Autonomous Region of the Azores, one of Portugal&#8217;s two autonomous regions. The other is Madeira.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;">As the temperature in the Azores is stable throughout the year, the islands enjoy year-round tourist traffic. The average air temperature is 18 degrees Celsius, with July being the driest month and November the wettest. However, we know from personal experience that whenever you go to the Azores, you need to be prepared for the weather to change literally from one minute to the next! Even if you wake up in the morning to a rainy day, don&#8217;t give up, because as they say, after every storm the sun comes out. In the Azores, this is doubly true.</span></p>
<h2 class="elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default">Directions</h2>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">We went to São Miguel Island during our three-month adventure in Portugal. We flew directly from Lisbon for a few €. The airport is located in the capital city of Ponta Delgada. However, if you are arriving at a later hour, we recommend booking accommodation near the airport for at least 1 night and then moving on.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">However, be wary of taxi drivers who like to pretend that they don&#8217;t have the change for your bills. Our guy charged 7 euros for the ride, but since we only had 10 euros, he claimed he didn&#8217;t have any change and so the ride cost us 3 euros more.</p>
<h2 class="elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default">Accommodation</h2>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">You have a choice of 2 options when selecting your accommodation. Either you decide to stay somewhere in the middle of the island, from where you will have the same distance to everywhere, or you decide to combine your accommodation in such a way that you eventually cross the whole island.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">We chose option number 1 because the island is relatively small (65 km in length and 15 km in width), so it is not very difficult to travel from one side to the other. We therefore decided to stay in one place all the time, which saved us a lot of hassle with packing and moving, which we consider to be activities that can make the overall stay during holiday unpleasant.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">We found accommodation through airbnb and it cost us about 350 euros for both of us for 10 nights (crazy, right?). There is almost nothing in the village, only a church, a park, one local shop and about two restaurants. This made it all the more possible to enjoy the local atmosphere and let us tell you, it had its charm!</p>
<h2>Hiking</h2>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">When we planned our holiday in the Azores, we were prepared for days of hiking, exhaustion and lots of steps. Wrong! In our experience we would call it more like CAR HIKING, as you can get directly to the top by car almost everywhere.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">Of course, it&#8217;s up to you which style of holiday you prefer. For those who love hiking, there are plenty of hiking trails. However, if you are more of a gourmet tourist, you will appreciate the fact that you can drive up to the viewpoint and enjoy the magnificent view almost effortlessly.</p>
<p>São Miguel Island consists of three different worlds:</p>
<ul>
<li>Breathtaking viewpoints</li>
<li>Hidden waterfalls</li>
<li>Natural springs</li>
</ul>
<p>But let&#8217;s get this in order. If you want to enjoy the Azores in all its glory, we recommend you follow the current weather. More than once we had to change our plans in the middle of the day because it was foggy or it started to rain. However, if it rains on one side of the island, it may not rain on the other side! And so you have to be flexible and determined to change your decisions from minute to minute to keep up with the crazy weather.</p>
</div></div><div class="wpb_text_column us_custom_d2199d32"><div class="wpb_wrapper"><h2 class="elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default">But let&#8217;s move on to the TOP 10 places you have to see!</h2>
<h3 class="elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default">1. Sete Cidaded</h3>
<p>The most beautiful part of São Miguel is considered to be the area around the Sete Cidades lakes. These lakes can be viewed from several vantage points, but not all of them offer the same view. Miradouro da Boca do Inferno (see photo) is definitely the most beautiful view of the island.</p>
<p>If you&#8217;re lucky, the view of 50 shades of green will definitely leave you speechless. We had to go there three times because twice it was foggy and we could see literally nothing, but it was definitely worth it. Our hearts were pumping and tears came to our eyes at the thought of how beautiful nature is and how lucky we are to have the opportunity to travel and see such beauties of the world.</p>
<p>Miradouro da Vista do Rei or Miradouro do Cerrado das Freiras also offer a nice view of the above-mentioned Sete Cidades. The former, however, is certainly no match for the latter.</p>
</div></div><div class="w-image us_custom_d2199d32 align_none meta_simple"><div class="w-image-h"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="507" height="432" src="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Miradouro-da-Boca-do-Inferno-.png" class="attachment-large size-large" alt="Vyhliadka na Sete citades na azoroch" srcset="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Miradouro-da-Boca-do-Inferno-.png 507w, https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Miradouro-da-Boca-do-Inferno--300x256.png 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 507px) 100vw, 507px" /></div><div class="w-image-meta"><div class="w-image-title">Miradouro da Boca do Inferno</div></div></div><div class="wpb_text_column us_custom_d2199d32"><div class="wpb_wrapper"><h3 class="elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default">2. Cascata da Ribeira Quente</h3>
<p>The second place is occupied by the largest waterfall on the island, which is hidden between two tunnels. It is very difficult to find it because unless you know its exact location, you can miss it very easily.</p>
<p>There are not a lot of tourists at this place, so it is often difficult to navigate by the parked cars. We recommend parking your car in front of the tunnels (on the right) and walking about 5 minutes to the end of the first tunnel. When you look to the right you are so lost for words! The most beautiful waterfall of Ribeira Quente is here.</p>
<p>For the brave and physically fit, it is possible to climb directly under the waterfall (see photo). The path takes about 20 minutes, but is not marked in any way. However, since the waterfall is always in front of your eyes, it is very easy to get there.</p>
</div></div><div class="w-image us_custom_d2199d32 align_none meta_simple"><div class="w-image-h"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="572" height="352" src="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Vodopad-Ribeira-Quenta.png" class="attachment-large size-large" alt="Vodopád Ribeira Quenta na azoroch" srcset="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Vodopad-Ribeira-Quenta.png 572w, https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Vodopad-Ribeira-Quenta-300x185.png 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 572px) 100vw, 572px" /></div><div class="w-image-meta"><div class="w-image-title">Ribeira Quenta</div></div></div><div class="wpb_text_column us_custom_d2199d32"><div class="wpb_wrapper"><h3 class="elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default">3. Caldeira Velha</h3>
<p>Imagine this: you are walking inside a jungle with exotic plants all around you, birds are chirping and you hear running water. This is the Caldeira Velha Natural Monument in the Azores.</p>
<p>There is a beautiful waterfall and several pools with thermal water of different temperatures. Access to the recreational park is limited, so you don&#8217;t have to worry about crowded pools or excessive noise. However, what you need to be careful of is early booking even a few days in advance. You can book your tickets <a href="https://parquesnaturais.azores.gov.pt/bilheteira/caldeiravelha/?lang=en" target="_blank" rel="noopener">here.</a> The complex is one of the most visited places on the island.</p>
</div></div><div class="w-image us_custom_d2199d32 align_none meta_simple"><div class="w-image-h"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="421" height="435" src="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Prirodne-kupele-Caldeira-Velha.png" class="attachment-large size-large" alt="kupanie sa v Prírodnych kúpeloch Caldeira Velha" srcset="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Prirodne-kupele-Caldeira-Velha.png 421w, https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Prirodne-kupele-Caldeira-Velha-290x300.png 290w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 421px) 100vw, 421px" /></div><div class="w-image-meta"><div class="w-image-title">Caldeira Velha.</div></div></div><div class="wpb_text_column us_custom_d2199d32"><div class="wpb_wrapper"><h3 class="elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default">4. Lagoa do Fogo</h3>
<p>Another interesting area is the surroundings of Lake Fogo. The name Fogo translates to fog, so we probably don&#8217;t need to tell you what kind of weather prevails there. Again the rule of rapid weather variability applies and therefore you need to be patient. If you arrive at the place and you can&#8217;t see even one meter in front of you there is no need to give up. Try to wait a few minutes and maybe luck will smile at you.</p>
<p>The hiking trails around the lake and the panoramic views of Miradouro da Barrosa and Miradouro da Lagoa da Fogo are also very famous.</p>
</div></div><div class="w-image us_custom_d2199d32 align_none meta_simple"><div class="w-image-h"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="496" height="396" src="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Miradouro-da-Lagoa-da-Fogo.png" class="attachment-large size-large" alt="Vyhliadka na Miradouro da Lagoa da Fogo na azoroch" srcset="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Miradouro-da-Lagoa-da-Fogo.png 496w, https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Miradouro-da-Lagoa-da-Fogo-300x240.png 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 496px) 100vw, 496px" /></div><div class="w-image-meta"><div class="w-image-title">Miradouro da Lagoa da Fogo.</div></div></div><div class="wpb_text_column us_custom_d2199d32"><div class="wpb_wrapper"><h3 class="elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default">5. Miradouro de Santa Iria</h3>
<p>Miradouro de Santa Iria is definitely one of the top views on the island. At first glance, it may seem like an ordinary roadside stop, but the opposite is true. The viewpoint provides a spectacular view of the cliffs, hills and ocean. And trust us, those three things are a bulletproof combination.</p>
<p>The advantage is that nobody stays there too long, so you can very easily have the whole place to yourself. Isn&#8217;t it beautiful?</p>
</div></div><div class="w-image us_custom_d2199d32 align_none meta_simple"><div class="w-image-h"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="438" height="449" src="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Miradouro-da-Santa-Iria.png" class="attachment-large size-large" alt="vyhliadka na Miradouro da Santa Iria na azorskych ostrovoch." srcset="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Miradouro-da-Santa-Iria.png 438w, https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Miradouro-da-Santa-Iria-293x300.png 293w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 438px) 100vw, 438px" /></div><div class="w-image-meta"><div class="w-image-title">Miradouro da Santa Iria.</div></div></div><div class="wpb_text_column us_custom_d2199d32"><div class="wpb_wrapper"><h3 class="elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default">6. Salto do Prego</h3>
<p>The second most magical waterfall on the island is Salto do Prego. However, don&#8217;t let Google Maps fool you and be prepared for it to be a good hour from the car park to your destination. Google Maps showed us that we were about 3 minutes away, but it was not the case <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f600.png" alt="😀" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></p>
<p>And so, unprepared, without any food or water, we set out to discover the waterfall, which took more than an hour to reach. We recommend that you bring plenty of drinking water or some refreshments in addition to your swimsuit, as you may spend several hours at the waterfall.</p>

Poca da Dona Beija</h3>
<p>Poca da Dona Beija is a natural spa located in Furnas. There are five different thermal pools, which are heated by an iron water spring. Tickets to these spas cannot be bought in advance, so expect a longer queue (30 to 60 minutes). Don&#8217;t be discouraged though, it&#8217;s definitely worth it! We recommend visiting the spa during the rain, it has its own charm.</p>
<p>And one more important thing! Be careful what you wear, as the iron water in the springs is orange. Unless you don&#8217;t want to ruin your new swimsuit or towel, we recommend bringing older items that you won&#8217;t regret throwing away. We were there twice, which says it all! You will love this place.</p>

Miradouro do Pico do Ferro</h3>
<p>Another enchanting sight on the island is Miradouro do Pico do Ferro. This viewpoint is located about 5 kilometres from the town of Furnas, on the road to Ribeira Grande. It offers a fantastic view of the lagoon and the volcanic valley of Furnas from above.</p>
<p>Like all places on the island, it&#8217;s easy to get here by car, so as they say: a lot of music for little money, even if the petrol is quite expensive nowadays.</p>
</div></div><div class="w-image us_custom_d2199d32 align_none meta_simple"><div class="w-image-h"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="482" height="361" src="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Miradouro-do-Pico-do-Ferro.png" class="attachment-large size-large" alt="Vyhliadka Miradouro do Pico do Ferro na azorskych ostrovoch." srcset="https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Miradouro-do-Pico-do-Ferro.png 482w, https://2troubletravelers.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Miradouro-do-Pico-do-Ferro-300x225.png 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 482px) 100vw, 482px" /></div><div class="w-image-meta"><div class="w-image-title">Miradouro do Pico do Ferro.</div></div></div><div class="wpb_text_column us_custom_d2199d32"><div class="wpb_wrapper"><h3 class="elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default">9. Salto do Cabrito</h3>
<p>Another place worth visiting is the Cabrito waterfall. The waterfall is conveniently located in the centre of the island and is close to the aforementioned Santa Iria viewpoint.</p>
<p>After a short 15-minute walk down the hill from the car park, you will find the Salto Do Cabrito waterfall. It is therefore a much more accessible place than the previous Salto do Prego waterfall.</p>
<p>However, be prepared for the water to be quite cold and unless the sun is shining, it can be quite uncomfortable. But we enjoyed our stay and bath in the waterfall to the fullest thanks to the sunshine!</p>

Grená park</h3>
<p>The last place that is definitely worth mentioning is the Grená Park, which is located next to Lake Furnas. Grená Park offers visitors easy hiking trails that are complemented by several waterfalls, in addition to beautiful nature, chirping birds and many shades of green.</p>
<p>Entrance to the park is 10 euros, but the price also includes renting a bicycle, which you can ride around the whole of Lake Furnas. More info about the park and the current price list can be found <a href="https://parquegrena.pt/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">here.</a></p>

<p>Even though we&#8217;ve already closed the top ten, we&#8217;d like to give you 3 bonus picks that you&#8217;re guaranteed to love.</p>
<p>One of them is a visit to the only tea plantations in Europe called <b>Gorreana Tea Factory.</b> Besides walking through the tea fields, you can see the whole process of tea processing, taste their spot products, or buy products typical for the region.</p>
<p>Did you know that São Miguel Island is also the only place in Europe where pineapples grow in a greenhouse? You can find out more about this when you visit a <b>pineapple plantation</b> located just a few minutes from the centre of Ponta Delgada. You can also taste a variety of pineapple products, which you can buy to support local farmers.</p>
<p>The last place we want to tell you about is the black sand beach <b>Praia dos Mosteiros</b>. It&#8217;s definitely the most beautiful beach on the island and a must see!</p>
